INNER EYE

The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. The life-giving power of the eye of RA was celebrated in temple rituals, and its dangerous aspect was invoked in the protection of the pharaoh, of sacred places, and of ordinary people and their homes.

Eye is an organ with many believes and mythologies around it. Eye , for a common person is something used to see the material world.Some claim to see the spiritual world with their naked eye. Here is where the concept of inner eye comes into existence. The eye of the soul, that is the eye of geevathman is considered to be the third or inner eye. Invoking this inner or third eye in us makes as a "thrikalanjani" , a person who knows future just like he knows present and past.

The third eye of Lord Rudra is feared by all beings celestial or earthly...the flames from thy eye turns anyone to ash. There is a story when Goddess Parvathi closed both the eyes of Lord Rudra. As his eyes were closed the creation remained " STILL" ( in some context destruction happened) immediately Lord opened his third eye to save the creation. So the third eye is not just flames and death... but its a basic factor of creation.

Shiva while on a hunt happened to hear a sweet voice in the jungle. He was surprised to find that it belonged to a tribal girl, "Kulivaka" (Pronounced as Koolivaaka) - a girl of immense beauty. The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas.  The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2) They are: 8-Vasu, 11-Rudra, and 12-Aaditya, 1-Indra and 1-Prajaapati. VASUS  8.
