The Linga

The sages said, “We know that a linga is Shiva’s image. But why is Shiva worshipped in the form of a linga?” Lomaharshana recounted the following story. Many years ago, at the end of a destruction, there was water everywhere in the universe and the universe was shrouded in darkness. Vishnu slept on the water in his form of Narayana. Brahma discovered Vishnu sleeping thus and woke him up. Failing to recognize Vishnu, he asked, “Who are you and what are you doing here?” Vishnu woke up and noticed Brahma standing there. He smiled and said, “How are you, Brahma? Is everything well with my son?’ “How dare you call me your son?’ demanded Brahma. “I am Brahma, the lord of everything. I am the creator of the universe. How dare anyone call me his son?” “You seem to have forgotten everything,” said Vishnu. “I am Vishnu and you were born from me. That is the reason why I addressed you as my son.” Brahma did not accept this and started to fight with Vishnu. While the two were thus grappli

NOAH in Puranas

Having good behavior, wisdom, qualities like a brahmana and worship of God, these things are called mleccha-dharma. The great souls have declared that the dharma of the mleccha is devotion to God, worship of fire, nonviolence, austerity and control of the senses. The son of Hamuka was Matocchila. He ruled for 970 years. His son Lomaka ruled 777 years and went to heaven. His son Nyuha (Noah) ruled for 500 years. He had three sons named Sima, Sama and Bhava. Nyuha was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Once the Lord appeared in his dream and said: “My dear Nyuha, please listen, there will be devastation on the seventh day. Therefore, you have to be very quick that you make a big boat and ride in it. O chief of the devotees, you will be celebrated as a great king”. Then he made a strong boat which was 300 feet long, 50 feet wide and 30 feet high. (In the Bible the Ark is described as, “Its length was 300 cubits, its width was 50 cubits, it had three stories and its height was 30 cubits.”) It was

Daksha's Offspring Daksha's wife was named Asikli and Asikli gave birth to five thousand sons. They were known as the Haryashvas. The Haryashvas were destined to rule over the world. But the sage Narada went to the Haryashvas and said, "How can you rule over the world if you don't even know what the world looks like? Are you familiar with its geography and its limits? First find out about these things, before you contemplate ruling over the world." The Haryashvas went off to explore the world and never returned. Daksha and Asikli then had another thousand sons who were named the Shavalashvas. Narada told them what he had told the Haryashvas and the Shavalashvas also went off to explore the world and never returned. Narada Daksha and Asikli were distressed that their children should disappear in this manner. Daksha blamed Narada for the instigation and proposed to kill him. But Brahma intervened and persuaded Daksha to control his anger. This Da

ISKCON contradicts VEDAS and Puranas

ISKCON calls Lord Shiva an “Anti-Vedic God” stating that he is not present in the Vedas. Ironically, ‘Rudra’ is present in Vedas and the case is different.. What is the sacred text of Hinduism?  According of Puranas, lets consider Vishnu Purana first : Vishnu is born in the milky waters, as soon as he is born his mind is full of doubts about his own identity. A sound from some celestial being asks him to meditate on his soul and that he is one of the faces of Paramathman. Vishnu meditates...  In the beginning, all the elements were present in the great ball or egg, which came into existence because of the inspiration of the Paramathman . As this ball increased in size, it formed the base as Prakriti in which, Lord Vishnu Himself entered as Hiranyagarbh. After time cycles , a lotus grew out  of Vishnu's from which Brahma was formed and later Rudra was born out of Brahma. Now Shiva Purana: At the beginning of creation , Paramathman manifested as Shiv and S
