Men and their GODS

The men, as they stood up with their spine erect , got a knowing, a CALL, from something beyond their understanding . They saw the creation around them and it was so perfect that,  it had to have an intelligent creator. Soon , they understood that the creation and the creator was one. For worshipping the creator, for different purposes, they divided the one knowledge into many.

The hunters, who lived in the forests and mountains had a ,Hunter God. The warriors and kings had a, War God and the farmers worshipped the God of rain and harvest. As men evolved, Gods too evolved with them. As they moved from one place to another, their Gods also migrated with them. The Gods were always with men.

Men believed in impossible things and their gods made it happen. They believed, what weren't able to explain as deeds of Gods as it was truly the works of their Gods.

"You please the Gods through worships and rituals - Let the Gods please you by rains and such other things. Thus, helping each other may you prosper".

The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas.  The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2) They are: 8-Vasu, 11-Rudra, and 12-Aaditya, 1-Indra and 1-Prajaapati. VASUS  8.
