GOD - Generator Operator and Destroyer
I had been to Kedareshwara temple at Halebidu recently. Temple guide (I
mean the people who are very well acquainted with the history of place and
explains the same to visitors) was giving interesting summary related to the
stone carvings made on the walls of temple. His major carvings made on the
walls of temple. His major claim was that the Westerns have inspired from
Indian culture, traditions and even epics. One of such claims is that the word
‘GOD’ is also derived with inspiration from Indians.
Pointing at the beautiful carvings of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara made
on temple walls, the temple guide was explaining the meaning of word 'GOD' with
its expansion.
Brahma - the Generator
Vishnu - the Operator
Shiva - the Destroyer
According to him the acronym ‘GOD’ stands for Generator Operator and
Destroyer.. Brahma being the Creator of Universe he was called as Generator.
Vishnu being responsible for all the activities of Universe, he was called
Operator. Maheshwara or Shiva having the image of destroyer of evil is called
Destroyer.
Putting all together the Generator, the Operator and the Destroyer are
responsible for all the happenings of this Universe.

GOD Nataraja - By Swami Nalanda
This drawing represents God Shiva in the form of Nataraja. The God has a drum in his upper right hand, which represents creation or which produces the sound of creation. At the same time on the upper left hand the GOD has fire which indicates that the universe created will be utterly destroyed and he also blesses this devotees with his right hand. This picture shows God Shiva as the Creator, Protector and Destroyer. Creation starts from God Shiva and himself ends it.
Nataraja is a visual interpretation of Brahman and a dance posture of Lord Shiva. It is the representation of reality at the time of cosmic destruction. We being life forms, cosmic destruction would mean the disappearance of all life. The half moon shown in the head of Nataraja is a symbol only. The fall of the moon would result in cosmic destruction. The third eye on the forehead of the Lord is a symbol. The serpent wrapped around the neck is a cosmic entity, just as Shiva. Other vedic texts mention a cosmic serpent called Kundalini, present in every living form at the base of the spinal cord. Myths abound about Kundalini's presence and the cosmic dangers associated with its arousal. More abstract and invisible divine energy centres, called Chakras, are associated with its Rise. n 2004, a 2 m statue of the dancing Shiva was unveiled at CERN, the European Center for Research in Particle Physics in Geneva. The statue, symbolizing Shiva's cosmic dance of creation and destruction |
